Objectives
The goal of the project was to design a computer system for synthesis of magnetic resonance angiography images. One of the crucial problems solved in course of the project realization was the development of model of the imaged organ. Apart from magnetic tissue properties the model integrates a digital phantom of the vessel system with information of blood flow velocity in its segments. Such a constructed model is submitted to a simulation program which forms 3D images according to physical princicples underlying magnetic resonance angiography. A crucial innovative feature of the designed system was incorporating in a single computer system flow and MR imaging simulators. It is assumed that the designed system will be employed for synthesizing a large cohort of angiographic images mimicking the real ones. In consequence, it will enable a series of various experiments with the use of geometric modeling and vessel tracking methods. The obtained results should in turn help indicate those techniques of quantiative assessment of the vessel system which lead to the most reliable estimates and can thus be introduced to the clinical practice. ![]() Outline of the designed simulation system.
